Omnibus vs beneficial-owner accounts at the Nordic CSDs – who wants what and why

At its core, the omnibus versus beneficial owner accounts debate is about balancing efficiency with transparency. While omnibus accounts reduce complexity and promote privacy, they also weaken governance. Initiatives such as the Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR) and the Shareholder Rights Directive II (SRD II) take the debate in different directions.
