Europe rising?
- Regulation
US president Trump’s go-it-alone policies and openness to Russia have contributed to a sudden sense in Europe that we must be prepared to stand up for ourselves in the world. With this, our comparatively saggy financial markets and short list of startup successes have become growing embarrassments, and the EU’s long-baked idea of a capital markets union seems to be gaining some traction after all.
In this session, a diverse range of highly senior speakers will have their perspectives interwoven to make sense of what is going on in Europe, its markets, and its global context. What should we – Europe (yes, including the EEA and UK) – aspire to, and how should the securities market and its operational foundation plug into the vision? What are the most urgent action points to make it happen?
