Navigating the expanding requirements for repo clearing – from the US to Europe

Location:Room C2, Level 2
  • Clearing
  • Regulation

The regulatory and operational aspects of cleared repo markets and the concept of mandatory repo clearing in Europe are highly relevant topics in light of the decision by the US’ Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to require the majority of US treasury market transactions to be cleared through an approved covered clearing agency.

However, the European repo market is very different to that of the US, characterised as it is by fragmented capital markets, multiple domestic issuers, and diverse market infrastructure. This panel explores how Europe should avoid copying the US approach to cleared repo markets and instead align with its own unique market structure.

Adding a session to your personal schedule does not commit you to attend (except for the dinner or exclusive sessions where very clearly communicated). Conversely, it does not guarantee your seat, so come in good time where you suspect a full room.
